About Newline
The company
Newline Software was founded by a software engineer who has worked professionally since 2000. That work has covered most kinds of system: web, mobile and desktop applications, APIs, integrations and the backend services behind them.
Newline exists to do that work for businesses that cannot justify a permanent development team but still need software written properly. We are deliberately small. Clients speak to the founder from the first conversation, and the founder scopes, designs, builds and supports the systems personally. There is no account manager in between, and no hand-off to a separate team once the work begins.
Staying small is a choice, not a stage we are passing through. It means we take on a limited amount of work at a time and give each project proper attention. Nothing is lost between a salesperson, a project manager and a developer, because they are the same person. When we say something will be done a certain way, the person saying it is the person who will do it.
How we think about software
Proven technology first
We prefer proven technology to new technology, unless the new offers something the business needs. Mature platforms have long support lives, known failure modes and a wide pool of people who can maintain them.Simple enough for the next developer

We estimate carefully and tell clients early when something changes. An estimate that is revised in week two is far more useful than one that is quietly missed in week ten.Your data and code are yours
We treat the client's data and source code as the client's property. Repositories, accounts and infrastructure are set up in your name, so nothing depends on us being around.
