Support and maintenance

Ongoing monitoring, fixes and small improvements under a monthly agreement, so that the systems we build, and some we did not, carry on working as the business changes around them.

What this involves

Software is not finished when it is released. Operating systems and browsers change, libraries need patching, certificates expire, and the business asks for the small improvements that only become obvious in use. A system with nobody looking after it slowly stops working. A support agreement is how we make sure that does not happen.

Under a monthly agreement we monitor the system, apply security and platform updates, fix faults when they arise, and carry out small improvements from an agreed list. You know the cost in advance and you have a named engineer who already understands the system. Larger pieces of work are quoted separately, so the monthly fee stays predictable.

We support systems we built and, after a short period of taking them into care, systems built by others. Every agreement is written in plain English and can be ended with notice. Throughout it you continue to own the source code, the accounts and the infrastructure, and everything we learn about the system goes into documentation that stays with you.

Typical work

The kinds of job that most often fall under this heading. Yours does not have to match one exactly.
  1. Monitoring, alerts and incident response

  2. Security patches and platform updates

  3. Bug fixes and small enhancements from a priority list

  4. Backups, restores and disaster recovery testing

  5. Regular reviews of cost, performance and risk

Suited to

Businesses that depend on a system every day and want it looked after by someone who knows it, for a predictable monthly amount.
