Cloud and modernisation
Moving applications and data to Microsoft Azure or AWS with a costed plan, in stages that can be tested and reversed. Reducing the cost of cloud estates that have grown larger than the business needs.

What this involves
Moving to the cloud is worth doing when it makes a system cheaper to run, easier to keep secure, or simpler to change. It is not worth doing for its own sake. We start by working out which of those applies to you, what it would cost each month afterwards, and what the move would involve. You receive that as a written plan before any work begins.
We move systems in stages. Each stage is tested in isolation and can be reversed if something is wrong, so the business is never dependent on a single weekend cutover. Along the way we replace what genuinely needs replacing, such as unsupported runtimes and databases, and leave alone what is working. Modernisation does not have to mean a rewrite.
We also review cloud estates that have grown expensive. Over-sized virtual machines, forgotten test environments, and storage nobody cleans up are common and easy to fix. We measure what is actually used, propose changes with the saving next to each, and make them in an order that does not disrupt the people relying on the systems.
Typical work
Migrating on-premises servers and databases to Azure or AWS
Upgrading unsupported frameworks and runtimes
Containerising applications for easier deployment
Setting up backups, monitoring and infrastructure as code
Reviewing and reducing monthly cloud spend
Suited to
Companies running ageing servers or an expensive cloud estate, who want a plan with costs attached rather than a leap.
